Nowadays the media is one of the most popular sources about the news. Some people believe that the media stimulates cruelty in the social environment, while others argue that it is a form of awareness of what can happen and an example of the behaviour and actions people should not repeat.
My personal view is that the promotion of violence by the media makes society violent. Firstly, people see the model of behaviour on TV or radio programmes and might copy some cruel ways of solving conflicts shown there. Secondly, violence causes big emotional pressure. It can result in fear of suffering from cruelty and, consequently, in aggressive defensiveness.
However, there is an opinion that violence in the media is often shown as a negative example. They say that people learn that such behaviour is unwelcome and do not follow this example.
Nevertheless, some surveys and interviews show that the pig part of killers and other criminals was inspired by some scenes they saw on TV. They do not pay attention to the fact that doing such awful things is bad because they are impressed by the crime itself and not by the punishment. Taking everything into account, my opinion is that violence in the media makes people cruel and causes a lot of negative consequences.
